— 1994.
on the evening of february 7th, kim hanbin was born to a wizard and his muggle wife at seoul national hospital. a healthy baby he was and 15 year old subin was elated as he was first allowed to hold young hanbin.

— 1997.
it was everything but an easy decision for the kim family to move from their comfortable lives in korea to the dangerous streets of london, but alas, it was very much needed for the two parents. for one of hanbin's mother was a member of the order of the phoenix with her muggleborn mother willingly tagging along. subin, hanbin's older brother, was transferred to hogwarts at the age of 18.

— 1998.
hanbin was only 4. he didn't know anything, stuck in the innocence of childhood. the tension had been brewing for years and it was time for the climax all wizards and witches had dread; the war. his parents worried over their lives despite their confidence and bravado. what would happen should they both die in the battle? what would happen to their children? unbeknownst to them, it is their oldest that would eventually be the target of their worries.

— 2000.
hanbin's childhood was always a blur, with him only remembering fleeting moments of the most random memories. he remembered a dull afternoon where he cheerily professed his love to his mothers in their bedroom, and another memory of being kissed goodnight on the forehead. for a few brief seconds, he would also remember being playfully chased around by a shadowy figure of a man he could never make clear of, nor would his parents could guess either.

— 2001.
at the age of 7, hanbin was put into kindergarten and it became apparent a few of his classmates had trouble with his name despite it's simple spelling. the young boy remembered feeling left out as having a foreign name also meant he was often the target of teasing. when his parents found out, hanbin was given a choice to give himself a new name. ultimately, he was reborn into kim 'charlie' hanbin.

— 2004.
it was on his tenth birthday that charlie first discovered magic. surprisingly, it wasnt through his own experience but rather through sneaking downstairs to take a peek at his incoming party only to find his mother mumbling rubbish (he later learned it was latin and also, magical charms!) and half the furniture floating about. it was unexpected, however, that nine year old charlie thought that this was whatever superior being's birthday gift for him — having superheroes as parents.

— 2006.
so imagine his surprise when he was finally sat down to have the talk. except, surprisingly, the talk wasnt the birds and the bees that charlie had heard bits and bops of; it was about the wizarding world? so... his moms werent superheroes and they only told him after he bragged about it to his school friends?

— 2008.
finally 14, charlie was excited. over the past four years, he had been sneaking into his parents' library to gawk at the magical books hidden. he didnt understand shit, but it was so cool nonetheless. this year, he was finally going to learn from his moms the basics of magic in the free time, and charlie could not kill his curiosity.

2010. —
the day the kims received a mail from an owl was the same day charlie had first been so excited that he just could not stop talking around the house. this was the day charlie was first labeled as a chatterbox. lucky for him, this one was out of fondness from his ever so soft spoken mother.

adorning the yellow striped scarf with pride, 16 year old charlie was satisfied in being put into hufflepuff — loyalty, patience & hard work. he didnt want to brag, but those were some of his best qualities yet. so when he finally learned of his brother, of subin, it was truly a test of everything he prided himself in.

how could they? how dare they looked into his eyes and kept silent all this time? "im sorry about your brother, charlie. he fought bravely." for many years after, the young wizard could still remember the quiet shakiness in the headmaster's whisper. angry, confused, disappointed, grieving; what was he to feel? for the first time in his life, charlie shut down.

it was only during christmas break in which he was forced to return home that he finally talked to his parents. their countless mails sent throughout the year were left unopened under his bed, hidden under other junk so he wouldn't have to even look. however, he remained cold to them, having decided on his own to not mention subin. least not until he had found out more.

2012. —
he kept his investigation private and relied heavily on library books of the second wizarding war. unfortunately for him, there was only one mention of subin and that was under fallen soldiers slashed students. charlie was devastated and it showed through his grades. his interest was barely on magic anymore — it would remind him of the war and along with it, of subin.

the only subject he would enjoy without any torment was muggle studies. it was the one subject that wasn't heavily based on magic and that charlie appreciated. as it would later reveal, apparently charlie had quite the affinity for muggle shenanigans. this took him by surprise despite being surrounded by muggles his entire childhood and even attending primary school. it wasn't quite fair to the other students, but the headmaster and professor said naught about it then so did he.

2013. —
three years after the discovery, charlie was finally ready enough to confront his parents. during school break, he sat them down and all he could truly remember was the panic on their faces as they fumbled for words. over time, he didn't even remember their reasoning. it was just their faces he was so familiar with that he could pinpoint every wrinkle, contort into so many expressions in such a short period of time. if he were to be honest, charlie didn't know how to react then. naturally, he was empathetic but at the same time, he was angry, betrayed, he was still immature.

2016. —
patience was his biggest strength.
